Experience a spectacular journey through Africa’s most dramatic landscapes on our “7-Day Migration Safari”. This voyage across the Tanzanian savannah, organized by the renowned Timon Safaris, offers an intimate encounter with the wildlife in Tarangire National Park, Ndutu Area, and the iconic Serengeti National Park.
Timon Safaris specializes in creating personalized travel experiences that respect the environment and local cultures, and this journey encapsulates that ethos. Our guides have years of experience in wildlife spotting and can provide in-depth knowledge about the animals and ecosystems you’ll explore.
Tarangire National Park is the starting point of our adventure. It’s an area renowned for its vast herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees. This park, less frequented by tourists, offers a tranquil wildlife experience. Its landscape is diverse, with grassy plains, swamps, and forests providing habitats for many species.
The unique Tarangire ecosystem emerges during the dry season as wildlife converges on the Tarangire River. With one of Tanzania’s largest concentrations of wildlife, the park is a paradise for watchers and photographers. Enjoy the sight of waterbucks, giraffes, and dik-diks grazing alongside lions and leopards.
Leaving Tarangire, our journey continues to Ndutu Area, a part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area strategically located in the path of the Great Migration. The area’s fertile plains provide rich grazing for vast herds of wildebeest and zebra and a hunting ground for the big cats.
A full-day game drive in Ndutu offers a chance to witness nature’s drama unfold. Witness predator-prey interactions, an essential but often overlooked aspect of the wilderness. Your heart will pound with adrenaline as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas stalk and chase down their next meal right before your eyes.
From Ndutu, we journey north into the heart of the Serengeti. This vast, open grassland is the epitome of the African safari experience. Here, you’ll encounter the enormous herds of the Great Migration and Africa’s largest concentration of predators.
Spend an entire day exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti. Observe a pride of lions lounging in the shade, leopards draped in acacia trees, and cheetahs stalking the savannah. Beyond these are herds of elephants, families of giraffes, and more than 500 species of birds to observe.
Enjoy a game drive en route back to Arusha on the final day. This is an excellent opportunity to spot any animals that may have eluded you thus far. With luck, you might catch sight of a rhino, one of Africa’s most elusive and endangered species.
In the evening, find yourself back at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home, your mind full of unforgettable memories of the wild African savannah. Your “7-Day Migration Safari” concludes here, but the sights, sounds, and experiences will linger in your heart forever.
Besides the fantastic wildlife viewing, this trip provides various optional activities. You can visit a traditional Maasai village, witness the iconic African sunrise from a hot air balloon, or follow the steps of early humans at the Olduvai Gorge Museum. These extras make the journey more than just a safari; it immerses in Tanzanian culture and history.

On day three, you’ll leave Karatu and head to the Ndutu Area, renowned for its part in the Great Migration. This area is teeming with wildlife, offering unparalleled views of diverse species from gazelles to zebras, lions to leopards. The nutrient-rich plains provide a sanctuary for calving wildebeests, attracting many predators and creating dramatic wildlife encounters.

This area is particularly famous for calving season, where thousands of wildebeests give birth, a spectacle that attracts predators and sparks extraordinary wildlife confrontations.
